Pet Frog Products

Frogs make great pets, but they’re certainly not for everyone. First of all, if you think frogs would make a great addition to your family because they’re low maintenance, you are mistaken. Frogs are not low maintenance, and caring for them and their habitats requires a great deal of patience and time. Frogs are not recommended for children as pets because their needs are just too great. Responsible adults looking to care for these fascinating creatures will have to do some homework first before deciding which species of frog to bring home as a pet. Some species are much easier to care for than others (as with many pets), and you want to choose a pet frog that will fit nicely in your schedule and enhance your life rather than stress you out. Once you’ve chosen your pet frog, be sure to check out all the frog supplies available now at Zen Pet Supplies’ online store.

If you take good care of your pet frog and keep his terrarium clean, he can live as long as 25 years (some species) and even longer for other species. The key to a long-living frog is a clean environment, and it’s your job as his caretaker to do the work necessary to keep his surroundings clean. In our current inventory of frog products, you will find bedding and substrate materials, feeding and watering supplies, food choices and habitat needs. As with any pet, be sure to ask an experienced frog owner for some tips on setting up his environment or just do some research online. There are numerous helpful websites that give step-by-step instructions on how to set up a safe, healthy habitat for a frog in your home.

Here are just a few of the items you’ll need for your pet frog, and many of these can be found right here at Zen, your one-stop shop for all your pet’s needs. You’ll need a glass terrarium with a canopy (cover) and lighting. For many kinds of frogs, you’ll want a terrarium that opens in the front and has a secure latch. Some frogs will need a terrarium that opens at the top and has two sections (one for water and one for land). Artificial lighting, which should fit into the canopy of the terrarium, is another necessary item for many species of frog; many frogs require some UVB light, in addition to regular light. Substrate materials like sand or gravel, mulch-like material, pebbles, or peat moss are great choices to line the bottom of your frog’s habitat. The type of substrate will depend on the kind of frog you choose; tree frogs, for instance, need mulch and sand as their substrate. You’ll also need a water dish; and plants, rocks, branches and other accessories for climbing and shelter. You may also need a thermometer and hygrometer to measure the humidity level in your frog’s habitat.
