Ferret Bedding

There’s nothing more exciting than bringing home a new pet to the family, and one of the most important things you can to prepare for the arrival of your new furry friend is to set up his habitat before you bring him home. It’s way too stressful to try to set up a habitat after your ferret is already in your home; after all, you cannot just let the little guy run around the house while you rush out to get everything you need to create an ideal habitat for your new pet. If you’re thinking of adding to your existing crew, you should definitely consider a ferret. These lovable, adorable animals belong to the weasel family, they can grow to be about 20 inches in length, and they can weigh anywhere from 1.5 to 4 pounds. Ferrets are extremely social animals and will need a lot of human interaction, especially when they are young. Zen Pet Supplies has ferret bedding and other supplies you’ll need to set up a safe, comfortable, healthy home for your new pet ferret.
Ferrets are extremely inquisitive creatures, which may take some getting used to if this is your first pet ferret. Get ready for your ferret to want to get out of his habitat and explore because they will try to get anywhere and get into anything they possibly can. While ferrets can be trained to interact with and live with cats and dogs, they are (usually) not very good in homes with birds, guinea pigs, lizards, or other exotic animals due to their natural hunting instincts. That doesn’t mean you cannot rescue a ferret if you have a bird, guinea pig or lizard. We just highly recommend that you do some research before choosing a ferret, and as with any non-traditional pet, it’s crucial to learn as much as you can about habitat set-up needs before bringing one home as a pet. When it comes to setting up habitats for small pets, there are very specific needs that must be met, and the only way to learn that is by doing extensive research online or by asking an experienced ferret caretaker for some advice.

In our current inventory of bedding for ferrets, you’ll find pressed pine bedding, pressed cedar bedding, and aspen bedding. You can always try out a small bag of bedding and see how it works for your new pet. If you decide the type you’ve chosen works well, you can order a larger bag. Also, you can exchange what you’ve purchased by simply mailing back your selection and choosing another one. We’ll get your replacement bedding in the mail right away, so your pet can enjoy a comfortable nest as soon as possible. Please note that certain types of woodchips cannot be used in ferret cages. Ferrets are not rodents, so rodent bedding will not work for your ferret. Some rodent bedding contains oils, which could be dangerous to your ferret; these oils may cause respiratory illness and other serious health problems. Bedding material for a ferret should generally occupy most of the wire grating that your ferret will be hanging out and playing on inside his cage. Be sure to check out the different types of ferret bedding currently available at the Zen Pet Supplies’ online store.
